I'm installing a water pressure and oil temp guage this year. Last year i had an oil thermostat hooked up after finding i was running no warmer than 130 degree oil temp....

I was planning on using one of the block drains for the water connection, but unsure about oil temp. What's the opinion of the oil temp hook up? Hottest oil temp location and so fourth? I was figuring the easiest would be the pan, but not sure. It's a 96 502 efi. Even though the engine has the 96 accessories and belts on it, it is the newwer gen block. Don't remember the gen. designations. Any help with this?

That would probably mean you have a Gen VI block. I'm running my water temp sender from the inlet manifold (there's usually a mount adjacent to the thermostat housing) and the oil temp from the oil filter housing block. Are you running an oil cooler? Stock or aftermarket? I've thought about putting a temp sender on the cooler itself just to check but if you've got an oil T-Stat, you should be right.

Mine is on the side next too the thermostad housing on top of the intake !!!

Any advantage of that vs. putting it in a block drain or something similiar?

Well,,,lets say u get a blockage between the block and the intake ,,,,how would u know if the press drops down ?

Ithink the best spot os the intae ,,because if u have 15-17 pounds there u know u got press everywhere !!

Block drain has more potential to get clogged.
