Still looking at installing a 600 hp 502 in my little 24 outlaw sst 1996... can anyone tell me what kind of top speed I will be reaching with it.. Will I really need external steering or steering dampers..
what pitch prop would I need.
Right now it is only getting around 55 on a really good day with a 330 hp 454.
Also looking for a good used set of emi Thunder's if anyone has ..
Snow is almost gone... spring has sprung

Definitely need to add hydraulic steering, preferably dual ram if you can swing it.
I had a 1995 with a 454 Mag that I put a supercharger on and it went from 61 to 76 mph with a labbed prop.
I estimate my HP was about 525. That being said, with 600 hp you should see about 78-79 mph.
I would recommend a 26" prop and spin it to about 5400 rpm.
Let us know how it turns out !!!

What do you think about steering dampers as apposed to full hydrolic steering.
They run around 400.00 US each.
Anyone heard of these things.

those things are just a band aid for worn out gimbal rings/ sloppy cables , you can buy WPM single ram hydraulic steering add on system (not full hydraulic) that would be fine for 70 - 80 they run just under 2 grand I believe
