Hello All
I bought a HTM SR 24 some time ago,the boat needs a complete redone ,the formal owner was not taking care about the boat at all,as she was completely soaked with water ,I have to replace the floor in the aft compartment ,under the deck the floor is fine ,what I was wondering about is the fuel tank ,s location,is the tank always mounted under the rear seat ?
I don,t think there,s another place for a fuel tank ,but this tank was made from stainless steel ,and weight around 120 lbs empty,I can not believe that tank is the original.
Another question , some people have installed a 2 inch shorter drive ,is the prop getting enough bite ,or do they relocate the drive position ,just only to lower the engine and drive ?
I have a +- 800 hp blower engine that I wanted to use in this boat,with a Bravo 1 X 1,36:1 dual water pick up,will I gain anything if I switch to a 2 inch shorter lower unit ?
Thanks A.J

I believe mine is a 1998 ,any idea how big those tanks are in lenth /height wide ?
The other thing I could do is to switch to a #4 SSM that I have and don,t use anymore ,this #4 has a +- 3 1/2 inch shorter X dimension than a standard bravo, but then I need to use a gearbox /transmission for shifting the drive ,and the engine comes around 10 inches more forward ,but I was told on this forum the balance can be disturbed by doing this ...
The reason I brought up the # 4 SSM is if I wanted to go up in power I would have a stronger drive already mounted .
A guy not far from me has a set 700 CI PSI blower engines with 1300 hp ,and he want to sell me a single engine for in my HTM,but for now I need to use my own engine first.
Most people here tell me if I go to the 700 CI engine with 1300 hp ,I need to go to the hospital for a brain scan....
What do you think ?
Thx A.J

The tanks are 42 gallons each they are about 4 feet by 1.5 feet by 8 inchs and I would not move the motor forward the balance would be off a lot. 1300 is more then i would put in to it 1100 hp is more then enough.
