Question Has anyone used Steering dampers. testimonials?

Installing a 600hp engine in a 96 outlaw sst 24foot.

Has anyone used steering dampers in this type of application.
Do they work or still unsafe with them on..

I have heard different things about them.. some say they work great.. others say they are crap..
Should I spend the extra grand on steering assist single ram...

I know there was another post about something similar but only one reply about the rams...

Thanks........

Dampers and Hydraulic steering are two different things.

If you are running over 70 MPH you need Hydraulic steering to be safe.

Sorry not trying to yell at you Steve.

I've been right where you are and have asked the same question and I was told by those in the know that Hydraulic Steering is a MUST for 70+.

There are not any boat manufacturers that do not include it on a boat running over 70 out of the factory because the lawyers would eat them up if and when the boat was in an accident.

Dampners are a waste of time. Save up your money and do it right. Also keep looking for deals on stuff and maybe find a wrecked boat to buy parts off of.

This has been a great site and have learnt so much over the last two months. It is a really well put together site with great feedback.

Going to enjoy the night, the big 40 today, I think the other half has something planned for tomorrow but not hinting that I know ... lol should be interesting day! its funny watching her sneak around the house making plans haha...

Anyway have a good one!

for $1300 you can get add on steering and later make full, with the 600hp ,stock drive height a rev4 by bladdes labbed 25 I think is the biggest or a mirage plus 27 might be the ticket, my 26b1 4blade didn't run its best until I put the 2""shortie on the drive. but bret has a prop swap so you can try the rev 4 then a 27m then a 26b1 and buy which one works best. for speed real gps 76 to 77. thats what my boat ran with 600 to 650hp between upgrades and 83.2gps ran out of prop at 5900 to 6000rpm with carb and shortie would of got more with a 28 slip # were good at 12%.
