Default Tired of your white plastic yellowing...

It amazes me that some marine supplier's plastic parts like Ritchie compass and Kenwood do not have better UV inhibitors to prevent yellowing. My 2006 292 only sees the sun when we are boating and already the white plastic compass housing pieces and speaker grills were yellowing. Someone on here a while back recommended Fusion paint. I got some and did my grills and compass parts. Went on really nice and looks MUCH better (WHITE). We'll see how it holds up.

In the second pic on the top is the plastic compass flange ring. Notice how yellow the outside area that sees the sun is compared to the inside. The part on the bottom was already painted with Fusion.

I decided to dress up the compass a bit. A buddy made a brass flange ring for me that matched the old plastic one. I polished it up and had it chrome plated. This goes well with my chrome bezels on the dash.

I am wondering if puting some wax with U.V. protection in it over white plastic before it yellows will help protect it? Probably can't hurt.

A few more. First one shows the speaker grill after painting.

Good point. I guess that 303 protectant should help as well if you keep up on it.
