A buddy made a flange ring out of brass for me and I polished it up and had it chrome plated. It replaced the plastic one. Not a big change, but I like little tweaks like this.

We were a bit over flood stage (15 ft) a couple of weeks ago. As of Friday night, was down to just below 10 feet and is supposed to be down around 8 by next weekend. So, actually, low for us for this time of year. But I am not complaining, last year SUCKED as you well no!!!!
To a good season!!!

I found a local guy (who happens to be a boater) that does chrome plating and he did this part for 30 bucks. Not bad.
What took the longest time was getting the part perfectly smooth. It was machined on a lathe and I removed the turning marks wet sanding starting with 400 grit and progressing up to 1500 grit. Finally then polishing it on a buffing wheel to a mirror finish. Any imperfections will show-up big time after chrome plating.
