Cool Passed the Coast Gaurd Test!!!!

Well, I am now a Coast Gaurd Certified Safe Boater. Passed with flying colors (it was real easy in my opinion). Now to get that all important IN$URANCE di$count!!!!!!

Anyone else take the exam? What kind of discount did your insurance company offer??

Congrats! I took it many years ago. Some good safety info. My instructor seemed to think that the knot tying chapter was most important for some reason. I think we spent two whole classes learning to tie a sheepshank!

I get a 10% discount on my insurance (State Farm)

Yup, 10% here too. State Farm. Barb and I took the exam in the spring of 1989. Congratulations, W.F.

How about the safe trailering section? Did you have the pictures of the boats hanging off the bridge still connected to the vehicle and the boat without trailer, in the median. Makes me want to drive really fast when I'm towing so the other idiots don't cause me trouble!!

Hey Waterfoul, congratulations on passing the test. I'm taking the course now, My test is in two weeks, how similar is the test to the practice test for each chapter?

Usually 10% discount. Although when I have told my insurance agent that I have taken the course and passed they have never asked for a copy of the certificate. The ten percent discount is just rendered.
Remember, Red right returning.

Default USPS Course

Mike,
I took the Power Squadron course in GR about 7 years ago, great course, probably pretty similar to the Coast Guard Course. I think it's time to retake it again next year, I'm getting old and feeble minded, and need a refresher!!! Make sure that you are getting ALL the discounts you're entitled to , I get:

credit for loss free years: $58
safe boater course: $96
fire extinguishers(duh!): $49
VHF Radio(duh!) : $19
Loran or GPS: $19
depth sounder(duh!) $19

I have Fremont Mutual(Through Rudert Insurance in White Cloud)
they seem to have the best rates for my supposedly overpowered Avenger, no one else has come close.
check 'em out at:

Tell Rhonda I sent you!
Good Luck- see you at Smoke On The Water, if not sooner!!!
Paul

Good thing spelling Coast Guard wasn't one of the questions. Could've been the difference.
