Default Best "day boat" for the beach/entertaining 30 - 40 ft??

I am selling my 42SS Sonic (in the classifieds) with the intent of buying a poker run boat for me (probably 38/42 Fountain) and a day boat for the family.

The day boat would be:

No pontoons (this is lake Ontario/St Lawrence!)
Twins
no need for aft cabin
Walk though transom
Big swim platform with ladder
Windlass anchor
Stand up head room in cabin/head a must
Speed is great but not a key requirement

Lots of wisdom on the board.............what are your thoughts?

38 Fountain express cruiser but i also agree with the Formula 330ss. 37 Formula Super Sport is also a very nice boat if you are willing to pay for it. But for my money i would go with the 38 Fountain cruiser....haven't seen any of them from Ont, only from Quebec. It would be nice to see "on" at the front of one of them. Just my opinion though.

I do like the layout of the 38 Fountain Cruiser...fast too!

Have been in a 343 Cobalt, very nice but cabin too cramped. Have not been in a 330 Sunsport but I would doubt stand up cabin.

400ss and 370ss Formulas are nice, have not seen in person.

Thanks for the input.

292:

We have seen alot of interest in big bow riders for day boats, as you describe. I have sold Monterey 318 SSX's, Crownline 320 LS's and Sea Ray 280 bow riders for the day boat purpose. In addition to the walk through transom, you have a walk through to the bow for easy entry / exit to the beach. All have twin engines and reasonable performance. Despite being bow riders, they have a reasonably high freeboard and sharp entry at the bow. Comfortable dry ride. You're not going to run any performance poker runs with them, but you can still get a thrill driving them.

Enjoy the search.
