Default Oil question

I have a newly rebuilt 502, bored .030 over, flat tappet cam and roller rockers. The cam has been in before and is thus run in. Question is what oil to run. I have some Mobil 1 15W-50W to which I add a high zinc additive because of the cam. Any comments for break in vs. long term post break in ? Duration of break in period?
Boat is 89 Checkmate 25' Convincer
Advice is appreciated.

I dont do flat tappet anymore but I used Rotella. Do a search you will find several post's on it.

I use it in my boats, trucks, and cars.

I wouldn't run any additives, period. Find an oil that already has a high ZDDP content in it. Oil companies spends millions of dollars on formulations, and when you add something new to it, it can screw that formulation up, and actually be more detrimental to the oil than good. Mobil 1, AMSOIL, or Redline would be my choices. 15w-50 or 20w-50.

You are better off running a high zinc oil and not adding anything.

There is a post here on oil that you can read for hours on end. Check it out and it will answer any question on oil. Look for MARINE LUBRICATION.
