Default Bravo 1...No forward ..Reverse works fine

I was running about 50mph today and my drive acted like it shifter into nuetral... Engine reved up and I shut it down.. I have no forward movement. Works fine in reverse with nothing funny and shifts in and out of nuetral fine..Just no forward.. I removed the cable from the engine bracket and tried shifting it by hand with no luck... Any ideas??? I am hoping it is nothing major because i have a Poker run in 2 weeks. Any help appreciated.. Thanks, Jeff Wurl

sounds like you blew the floor out of the upper gear. not huge but not cheap either - get the drive to a mechanic with the gear set and you should be good.

Jeff,
If you have a drive with serial number OL or older, then it probably is a floor broken out.
If the drive is running a RH prop, then the bottom gear is the fwd gear. Usually when they push the floor out, it doesnt do any damage, but break the floor out of the gear.
The fix is a new gear kit with thick floors. Merc doesnt offer the old style gears anymore, so if you can find a used gear, then you need the upgrade kit. There are several kits available with more or less componets. The one I use replaces all the parts in the upper, so you are all brand new. Steel towers can be added to your exsisting drive if the case is in good shape, and you feel with your power level that an upgrade is necessary.
A new upper is also an option.. Get it to a good drive guy and have them inspect it and then decide the best course of action..
Poker run in two weeks, fastest would be a new upper..

Hope this helps.
Dick

I pulled it apart this evening and the floor is broken on the upper gear. I run a left hand prop. What all should i replace while it is apart and who sells a good kit??? Will XR gears fit this housing?? Does anyone make stronger gears?? I am running a 500HP right now. The drive number starts with OL. It says Performance Bravo One on the back of the drive...Thanks, Jeff Wurl
