Sport Master VS CLE
#1
On a 2.5 what is the deference between a sportmaster lower unit Vrs a CLE (crescent leading edge). is one stronger internally than the other??? dose one create less drag than the other. On a twin set up can you use a sportmaster on one motor and a CLE on the other, what about cost deference???

Hi!
Check out www.screamandfly.com They have an article on CLE vs SPM.
If I am correct, the bullet at the CLE is thicker than SPM. SPM is faster as it is a newer design. It is made for 85 mph + speeds. It has heavy duty internals (bearing carrier, gears, etc). I am not shure about the internals in a CLE.
You should run identical lower units since you may experience handling problems in high speeds if different units.
The fastest lower unit is a Torque Master with Bobs Nose Cone and high performance torque tamer. A TM has heavy duty internals.
Good luck, Toffen G
