Default Exhaust mufflers?

I currently have straight thru tips with no muffling. I want to add mufflers so I don't get a ticket, but I don't want to lose power or make it to quiet. Will the slip-in muffler teague sells work? Who makes an angled tip muffler I could just replace my current tips with? Would I be better off just using clamp on mufflers and which ones? I have searched threw a bunch of the old threads but haven't really found a good answer to what I'm looking for.

the slip in mufflers work pretty well, It just depends on how loud your boat is, gibson makes a good clamp on that will lower the Db's and there not priced to bad. good luck

I had a 454 last year that had wet lightning headers. I got a warning from the boat patrol with my setup last year. I am putting a new 502 in with the same headers and I would assume its going to be as loud or a little louder than my setup last year. Do the slip-ins actually reduce the noise level enough to where I won't likely be messed with?

Turn downs or cmi sound elimination. Your only options for no power loss. I have the Gibson clamp ons and although it's quite, I lost 300+ rpms

I run Shotgun mufflers by Drew Marine. Very simple mechanical design with no power loss. Quiets it down some, but still sounds good and is loud enough. I believe a set runs $450.00 Jeff Wurl

The slip in's are not going to be enough, you are going to have to go with something else. there are some good one's listed here by others, you may want to try them out.

I run a Procharged motor with EMI headers through Zoomer thru hull shorties. The DB police don't even look at me and no loss of power.

We have seen great results with our XPM525 setup http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=6801
along with all of our Cyclone HP series clamp on mufflers. http://www.cpperformance.com/SearchR...CategoryID=182
You will see a small drop in RPM but any muffler that actually works is going to have some type of performance loss.

Good luck and let us know if we can help any further.
