Hey Guys, just curious, warm and at idle, how much oil pressure should a 95 454EFI motor have, same with water pressure, I have only fired it up on the "muffs" and would like to have an idea of how warm it should be, I think the idle is a little high too, its idling around 1K RPM, thanks for the input!

You can't get consistent water temp readings on a hose. Put it in the water for real numbers.
Idle water pressure will be 3# or less. Oil pressure should be anywhere from 20-30# at a warm idle.

Thanks Griff, that makes sense, although my oil pressure is around 50lbs at "idle", but, my idle speed was around 1100 RPM, it dropped off a bit once the motor warmed up though.

It should idle at 600 rpms once it reaches 154 degrees and the temp will normaly level off at around 163, But most gauges will read 175 at the dash. If engine is cold it should idle a bit under 800 rpms.

Great!, my temperature is right about where it should be, I am running around 150 degree's, by the gauge, but, I imagine the water coming out of the hose is pretty darn cold too, plus there is no "load" on the motor while its sitting on the trailer at idle?
The idle speed is WAY too high, as I suspected. I am idling around 1100RPM, could it be the TPS? or maybe just an adjustment on the throttle cable [do EFI motors have any throttle cable adjustment?] I am not sure what else would affect idle speed that is user adjustable?
THANKS for the input, I feel a little better knowing where I "should" be!

OK, will give that a shot, wasn't sure if there was any "user adjustment" on the EFI set up, things where ALOT easier when you could turn the idle down with a screwdriver!, ha ha.
Yes, I think the Tach is correct, the motor definately sounds like its idling alot higher than it should, maybe in transport and while redoing some wiring in the dash/engine are the cable got caught and/or pulled, will have a look, Thanks!!
