Default 05 25 Outlaw 496HO procharger 3.5psi

hey guys, newbie here to OSO, need some fuel system help with my 05' 496HO b1x w/140hrs. I have a custom 3.5psi Procharger on my 25OL, custom because I relocated it. In the OL from the center of the crank pulley to the stringer is 16.5", the stock procharger sits 19"-20" off the motor, that would have meant alot of cutting, no thanks. So I relocated it above the stringer and used a 68" belt, works good so far with no cutting. Anyhow I need advice on a fuel system and ECU, does the ecu need a reprogram for low boost setups? I'm staying with low boost, I don't have alot of faith in the 496 so until I tear it down and throw some forged stuff in, it'll be 3.5psi for now. The 05' 496's have the cool fuel box with the pump, filter, separator, and cooler all in one with no return line, is this useable? or scrap it? I hear the ATI regulator is trash too, so I need advice on pumps, regulators, coolers, and fuel rails if I need them. I've got a water pressure, fuel pressure, boost and a EGT gauge along with the procharger. Here are a few pics of my OL and procharger build. Thanks fellas. Stan.

I don't have any answers for you on the FI, if it were carb'd I'd be all over it. LOL.

But I did want to say, I like where you mounted it. Nice job.

I am no pro in this field but I would look for a Aeromotive marine A1000 electric fuel pump and a Aeromotive marine boost referenced regulator and dump the 496 setup. You may want to post this in the baja and general Q/A section. You will probably get more help. Good luck and nice job. example http://www.rexmar.com/page204.html

ATI was useless, spoke to a dude Lance twice, he told me to "call ***** Performance in Jersey they know more about our kits than we do". He said the kits are only setup for up to 2004 496's, I asked him why don't they advertise that??? So im on my own. I'll make it work, the kit was new and I got a good deal on it, just looking for the best way to do it right. Stan

I was looking at that pump, and i read that some guys are using 2 regulators, one to hold base pressure and another plumbed on the return line just for boost referencing, i might try that. any thoughts on the ecu for low boost?

Best of luck Stan, again the aeromotive marine may help but you would have to lose the stock setup.

Without a reflash I would say watch your exhaust temps and be careful of WOT.

I'm not sure of the programming with a 496 and the 555 ecu,if your injectors are big enough you could use the ecu to give you more fuel but I doubt they will do it at stock fuel pressure. Last I knew Dustin Whipple was the only guy outside of Mercruiser that could reprogram the ecu. I also heard guys like Crockett were retrofitting mefi4 system's on 555 motors but it is really a step backwards (going from sequential fuel injection to batch fire),Smitty

Not sure for a 05, I had a 03 25 Outlaw and I looked into all the in's and out's of this install (3.5 psi) changed my mind when they told me to cut the Stringers. On my 03 HO I was going to be able to use the stock fuel system, just add a fuel pressure regulator that was included in the kit and was told that the stock tune would be fine. If I remember right the 04.5 and up 496's were not SC friendly, might want to look into this and I believe it had something to do with them changing piston design and clean air programming. Hope this helps good luck on the install.
