I know which way the hoses are supposed to go on my HP500's. Unfortunately, I just wasn't paying attention when I assembled the oil cooler/filter hoses on my port engine.
After firing the boat up, I noticed that the oil pressure was approximately 55 lbs vs. the normal 85 on cold startup.
After runnig the engine for a few minutes, the oil temp never did come up.
Switched oil filters thinking there might me an issue there, and the problem did not migrate.
Double checked the lines (like I should have done the first time) and discovered the in/out hoses swapped.
Put the hoses back where they're supposed to go and now my oil pressure is back and the oil temp rides along at 200 degrees.
I feel stupid, but tought I'd post this in case there are others who are trying to diagnose a similar problem.

Greg

The reason your oil temp didn't come up is because all of the oil was going thru the bypass and none of it was going thru the filter or the cooler. The oil temp sensor is along that path and none of that oil was moving. If you had taken the boat out, hot, dirty oil would've been running thru the block. Glad it didn't hurt anything.
