Default Water in the trim fluid

There is no leaks anywhere on the outside trim lines. Was wondering where the water is coming from. could it be sucking water through the hoses. thanks

if you have had tempature swings it is condensation in the pump. we see it all the time.

Trim ram end seal is what I would suspect. They can be easily rebuilt if need be. Mercury sells the kits with all the o-rings, scrapers and impact spring.

so it could be sucking water through a seal and still not leak hydr. fluid.

Yes they can get water in and not leak. I had a trim seal fail and sucked water in and never leaked oil near I could tell. I knew if was the ram seal because plating failed and shaft was rough. Rebuilt the ram(had shaft replated) , flushed the system and water free for past 3 years.

I bought my boat in 2001 (35 Nordic with twins).

Around 2002 the port trim pump had milky water contaminated
oil one day.

All I did was change the oil.

Problem has never come back in 7 years and 400 hours?

A couple years ago I had the same problem. Ended up finding that water was dripping directly onto the trim pump cap when it drained off the hatch. Since I had a top vented cap the water was getting sucked in. Changed to a side vent cap and the problem went away. It sucked to eliminate the water from the system, but after that it was a $5 fix. . .
