Anybody know this beautiful boat?

This boat was traveling west on I-74 through Peoria, IL today. The boat is a work of art! Absolutely beautiful! Sorry about the quality of the pics(cell phone). I think the guys were part of Team AMF.

The Golden Nugget, I believe owned by a Butch Kropfield races in the 'Gold Cup' Class at Antique boat regattas.

I've always been into old race boats, I once tried to buy a 27 Litre Spitfire V12 powered unlimited Hydroplane but the bloke refused to part with it!

This style and class are beautiful, I have seen a boat similar sized to this running 4 x 392 Ford Y Blocks!

Sweet boats. Van Dam Boats here in Boyne City make many boats like that one if not that one. Really nice rides.

The "Gentlemen's Racers" have always been my favorite style of boat.

Holy sh*t! There is a mini version of that boat thats been for sale in some guys front yard here in town for a long time. Never stopped and looked at it. Maybe 12' to 14' long! I'll have to stop and get pics now!

The 'mini' version that looks similar used to be known as 'cracker-jack' race boats. They ran all sorts of front engine direct drives and they went like the clappers! I saw one once that had an Offenhauser Indy engine, boy was that loud!

They're worth a bit of money if they are rigged in the original gear, hard stuff to come by now. Most of them were just hack jobs thrown together with lawnmower controls and any old engine though. Great fun to drive! Scary as hell!
