Default Calling all alternator wizards

Hopefully this is an easy one for you guys. 7.4 Mercruiser..removed stock alternator (a few wires going to it )..replaced with a new one wire alternator. I'm running a new wire from "hot post" on alternator to the positive on the battery. Question is...what wires do I hook together from that harness, or connect somewhere else so that my voltage gauge works ? I wanna be able to visually see that its charging. Thanks guys.

Those two wires are your voltage sense and exciter wire for the stock alt. Just tape them back and you are done. Your gauge will still work fine.
