Default Warning Beeps 383 Stroker

I had just refilled the gas tank and was heading back to the slip when I heard 2-distinct warning beeps. This repeated so I took the engine down to idle. She stalled. I had a heck of a job restarting as I needed to give it gas to get back started.

All the fluids are full. She won't hold an idle and continues to beep twice while running.

Please help trouble shoot this.

Thanks in advance!!

Where you running at speed when it went off? what is/was the temp at when it sounded? It sounds like you might have picked up a bad load of fuel and you filter is getting cloged up, I am not sure on your engine off the top of my head, But merc did put in fuel pressure sensors on some certain engines, But not to manny of them, Did you get a oweners manual with the engine kit? Some times it will tell you if your engine has one or not, And may give you a list of what will set it off.

I do have a user guide. It indicates that a un interupted warning is overheating or extreme loss of oil presure.
It indicates that a random beep is the out drive fluid.

The beeps started while at speed, no temp problem. When I dropped down to idle it stalled. It will not hold an idle.

All fluids are fine. (Gas could be in guestion.)

These are 2-defined beeps repeating about every 2 minutes.

Are there any boat mechanics in the Long Beach CA area that would come to the Marina and help repair?

Before I do that please advise as to possible problem targets.

Idle Air Control motor? Had a similar 'double beep' problem last year, new IAC was about $90 and installation took less than 5 minutes.

Been there done that a couple of times on a boat with twin 6.2 MX engines. IAC valve both times. About $80 for the new part, sits right behind the throttle plate under the cowling. It is a known Merc problem, due to the heat, according the the tech that replaced mine. When I explained what the engine was doing, 2 beep (called a "soft alarm) every minute or so, and dies at idle, he knew what it was, but checked it with the Merc laptop diagnostics anyways, and changed the IAC. About a month later the 2nd engine did the same thing. I bought the IAC and gasket and replaced it myself (only requires removing 2 bolts), and problem went away. In 2 years I had a total of 3 IAC's fail on those 2 engines. If I remember right, the 383 stroker is based off of the 6.2 MX.

My suggestion is to buy a new IAC and swap it in. You'll know immediately if that solved your problem...If it doesn't, you've got a spare IAC, which you WILL need eventually...
