Default water separator/fuel filter

Have an issue with both filters full of white balls very small rather hard, can be broken down with hard pressure, found some under needle and seat and went looking, filters from last year, first run pulled them apart and centers full of this stuff, do fuel filters flow oppostire of oil filters ie from inside to out? posted picture of the stuff kind of hard to see. any body seen anything like this before. 91 454 brvo 1 aluminum fuel tank thanks Randy

Looks like aluminum corrosion products to me. However, if you take some carb cleaner, the spray kind and see if it dissolved the white stuff. If spray carb cleaner dissolved the white stuff the stuff is organic ie from the fuel. If it does not it could be an inorganic material such as aluminum corrosion from the tank or something else that got into the tank. Looks like you need to clean your tank.

Thanks Thunderstruck, mixed some with fuel stays same got rid of most of the fuel and added water seems to soften and goes up cloudy anmakes a layer under the fuel on top of my specimin jar so to say after about 1 hour , didnt have carb cleaner but tried berrymans B-12 and that has no effect on it, Had more than a tespoon full of it from first filter, pulled other side several teaspoons in the center fo filter on carb side. pulling carbs now to see how much in them. we are certainly scrathing our heads on this one. taste has a ting of salt taste. Fuel system was dry after sitting winter had to prime carbs to get it started, added 100 gallons of avgas to 30 gal of gas. time will tell

have found it in both carbs, went to gas station where all but on the water gas was purchased BP and they are getting complaints from cars that get stored and other boats of the same issue, they say it has to do with the alchohol/ethanol additive in fuel and storage time. any body else having uissues with this? it does return to liquid in water but not in fuel, boat sat from oct till may dont know if its in tank on not yet, funny thing it was not on the outside of fuel filter but was on the inside ready to be pulled to the pump and to the carb Randy
