well guys got my boat out for the first time last week-end with my new sidemount whipple system.
this is my first time installing a supercharger on a boat and all i can say is WOW!!!!!
my stock set-up with the 454 was getting 58-59 mph on gps.
on the week-end with my new set-up i got 75,9 on gps without pushing it to hard for a long time.
i was expecting 10 to 12 mph increase but got alot more.
anyway i have a few questions.
i find it hard to start when it is cold seems like it is flooded.
another thing is that between 2800 and 2900 rpm's it seems like the ecm is dumping a ton of fuel into it and it blows a ton of black smoke until i either increase or decrease the rpm's then it is gone. i am thinking bad tps. what do you guys think?
the other thing is that it just seems to be on the rich side, when i get home the back of the boat is black! i am running a aeromotive fuel system with 50lbs injectors and 50 psi plus boost reference from the regulator.
i am very nervous to turn down the pressure and lean it out!
let me know your opnions guys
Thanks

I agree. You must install some O2 bungs in the exhaust and monitor AFR. This is not something you want to guess at. You will need to install a bung in both pipes, since every engine has a rich and a lean bank.

thanks for the replies guys but i need more info on what you think my little problems are. i live way up in northern canada and there is absolutly nobody around here that has the equipment or knowledge to start tuning this thing for me.
so any other info would be greatly welcomed.

I think all of your problems are tuning related. You know that it is rich. I also think it is rich in the 28-2900 rpm . It may just be a spot of the map that it is not happy and is not usually in. I do not think anything is wrong with the tps. An O2 sensor will tell you all you need to know. If you can get some accurate afr's and rpm's than I can fix the tune. The first step that you need to take is to get some bungs put in the pipes. I can send the bungs to you and tell you or a welder how to install them.

I agree with what these guys are saying. I have a Holley MPI kit with adjustable PCM. I came with a narrow band and I upgraded to the wideband this spring. Get a Wideband O2 gage or find a way to monitor with your laptop. Do you have a way to adjust your fuel map or is it preset?

There is nothing wrong with the tps. They pretty much work or they don't. You would know if the tps was bad since it really would never run worth a damn. It needs some tuning. You need to know what the afr's are so the fuel tables can be fixed.
Your base fuel pressure depends on several things. It depends on how the ecm was tuned, what injectors and how many you are running, etc. Some engines I start with 40 and some I start with 50 psi. It just depends.
