Can anyone suggest a an ignition system for counter rotating big blocks,MSD tech informed me MSD are for standard rotation only.

how is the engine counter rotating ?? old was gear to gear and used a stock dist gear, newer uses std chain and a reverse cut cam.dist gear, and requires a special GM est dist with a thrust plate installed..if you do not run that dist it will eat dist in no time at all !!! I know..went thru 3 !!!! the old style you can use anything...Rob

Thanks, I wish I knew, got back what is left of my boat in boxes. I am trying to contact the machinist that actually did the engine work and find out how the counter rotation was acomplished. I beleive it was done with the reverse cut cam, I'm just guessing though untill I talk to the man that built the motors. Thanks for your help,Rick

I do not know how the counter rotation works however I use the DUI distributer. I just installed it this year so I have only have about 6 hours on it. A lot of other people have had thiers for many trouble free years. I have seen pictures of corrosion damage on the MSD.

if you have a reverse cut cam gear you MUST run the est special dist for that app...NO question....if you run anything else the dist will self destruct in a matter of hours !! I did 3 before could figure out why...and few seem to know the deal.
If yours is a late model gen VI roller it has the reverse cut cam gear as thats all they make now..the old gear to gear stuff is no longer serviced...that dist kit it about $500 but is simple and works !!!! feel free to call me if you wish 540-786-8111, Rob
