Default Do 502 MPI's have chokes?

When my starboad is idling, it will sometimes jump up and idle fast around 1200. I goose the throttle and it will slow down to normal. Then sometimes it will just quit after it has been idling for a while.

Could it be the choke? Any other ideas?

Fuel injected motors do not have chokes. They do have IAC motors (Idle Air Control).

the IAC duty cycle should be controled by ECT. when the engine is cold it should increase the idle slightly to get warmed up. that is the way it works on older gm fuel injected models. sometimes a biased ECT sensor can cause it to do that. or a sticking IAC valve can cause that also. not very fimilair with the marine setup but very fimilair with fuel injected vehicles. you can sometimes clean the iac with a wirebrush and some intake cleaner.

They also have cold start mode which makes them run rich at cool temps.

Good luck with it, Iwas suprised to find some other engines and older drives stuff to open also, I found this on a different site they have others but no hi performance stuff. I am sorry I for got look for main menu at the top right corner in red then you will like it. That is way more then $70.00 manuals right there to save.
