Well we finaly made it out to test the new engine. Temps up here yesterday was 57-59 that sucks. At the ramp fired it up and it died, tried again and it died. Pulled the plugs and they were soaked. Ran into town and found some new plugs and installed them. Fired up and ran great. Everything went great from there. I had my son and Dennis R./engine builder/freind with me and buzzed around checking readings and for leaks and all was great. Finally got into it a little and made our best top speed reading so far, flat water, drive at neutral, tabs down slightly and only 5100 RPM and pulled 82.2MPH. I backed off and still had 1/4 throttle and 400-600 more RPM to go. VERY pleased with the build Dennis did and cant wait for better weather and time to learn the new characteristics. I feel 85MPH any time is not an issue and 90+ may be possible.
Safety first.

We have made more runs with the boat this past week. It is now loaded with all the summer stuff and made a few passes. I am glad to report we picked up more speed. Thing still has some left for tabs and trim and this was still flat water. I am sure with the right conditions and more tweaking it may see real close to 90. This seems scary fast in a 28 ft boat.
