Default IV to VI filter adapter ?

I have seen a lot of threads about upgrading to larger diameter fittings, but what I need to know is if the oil filter adapter from a old Mk 4 engine can be used on a new Gen 6? My old Mk 4s had nice filter adapters, will I be able to reuse them on my new Gen 6 motors? Also, when it is time to dyno should I get some basic spin on filter adapters or use the full remote system that will be on the boat?

Wrong !!!! they will not interchange at all, done several !!!! you will need a specific one for a gen VI like from eddie marine or such...only the filter itself will interchange. Rob

I was searching the applications on Summit to try to verify just prior to your post and they are showing them as being the same. However I do seem to remember reading that they are different. I'll take a look at Eddie's site. Any suggestions as to brand/ model?

The Mk IV adapter is different than the Gen V and VI adapter.

Out of curiosity, I have a Gen VI but I'm unfamiliar with Mk IV motors as a result.

What the heck is the difference?
Anyone have a picture comparison of the two by chance?

the Gen IV goes way up further in the block, the gen VI sits almost flush as the block is a lot different at the filter boss...Rob

The filters have not changed but the remote filter adapters have. What Eddie says a few post down is correct. If upgrading the oil system Canton Racing Products makes a billit alluminum one that is really good.

they do not appear all that diff to look at, if you look up filter adpaters on eddie marines site they list both, trust me they do NOT interchange...
