I'm curious if there are any Propeller Heads out there that might care to comment on my post here. I have an older Cigarette that was originally TRS and I installed Bravos when I put new motors in. Apparently the Bravos weren't as long/deep in the water. I originally had three blades and then I tried 4 blade Machs in 26' pitch. I had some difficulty getting on plane. I changed to Bravo 1's and saw immediate improvement. I then had a substantial amount of cup added to the 26" Bravo props and I can now get on plane easily and quickly without any hassles at all. The downside is limited top end RPM. My motors are HP500EFI's and I am turning about 4900 RPM at WOT. That's about 74 mph for me. I guess I'm losing a few RPM's at the top but I get a nice 50 mph cruise @ 3400 RPM.

Is adding cup a universally accepted way to do what I did or is there a better way ?

Anyone have any comments or suggestions ?

Is it a Top Gun? If so, you're going about as fast as it will go with a nice cruise also. Dropping the pitch to 24 might get you another mph or 2 but you will loose more in the cruise speed.
