Default Too Big for the Chain?????

Hi guys, just one question … My friend is thinking about buying a Fountain. He wants a 47, but he also wants to boat on the Chain about 8 to 10 times a year. I think it is too big for being out there. I know of a few 42’s that run Fox Lake … but 47 is a much bigger boat. He does not want to be disrespectful … what are your thoughts??

Thanks
Bryan

Get a 25-30' for the chain and use the 47' on some real water and not a mud puddle.

I've seen 2 other 47's out there over the years. Having limited options to dock at restaurants/wateringholes is the biggest problem with running anything over 28 feet there.

If he likes to regularly anchor in places (i.e.Petite Lake), I say go for it, no harm no foul, as long as he is comfortable boating on densely populated waterways.

For the record, I live on the Chain but I havent boated there with my Gun. I did run my 35 Cafe and 29 Donzi there though.

Bring it....it can't be any worse than some people with small bowriders that have no idea how to drive or which side of the channel to be on. I have a 35 lightning and I'm out there just about every weekend.

Don't worry about what others think, life's short...if they say anthing it because their jealous.

I echo others comments and can testify that docking for a boat that big will be an issue if you want to stop for food or whatever. I have a 36 ft boat and sometimes I cannot dock it due to the length.

The chain is also shallow, but that thing drafts no more than what a single drafts so I say bring it out so we can have something to see and talk about
