Default “Operation Dry Water”, a nationwide BUI/OUI abatement day

See http://www.magnetmail.net/actions/em...roup_id=346532 for information on Operation Dry Water scheduled to take place on the weekend of June 26-28. “Operation Dry Water”, a nationwide BUI/OUI abatement day is being organized in all 50 states. This effort was initiated by OUI officers, the USCG, and NASBLA. This one weekend sobriety patrol “push” is intended to raise public awareness of the hazards of boating under the influence by conducting focused OUI/BUI patrols or checkpoints collectively nationwide over a single weekend

How do they work the laws on open container in a boat is it the same as a car, No open containers at all ? If thats the case then what are they going to do with 99% of the boats on the water. I don't think anybody should drive a boat drunk but the BAC should need to be .10 or higher for a ticket and they would have to allow open containers or everybody is just going to throw all their trash in the water.

I "heard" but not 100% positive that you're allowed 6 beers per person on board minus the driver. I just heard that this year from a couple people here in NY. I've been boarded twice in the past, never asked how many beers I've had in the cooler, usually just asking for safety equipment and vests and what our plans were for the day. On a normal day hanging out where we all tie up, I'll have maybe 6-8 beers and stop drinking a few hours before we plan on leaving. I don't think they can get you for a BUI unless you're under way and they actually see you driving. Remember, you can always do an overnighter!

You would think they would make it on the fourth.

There was not an officer to be found Memorial day weekend on the river.

Many of the locals will not launch on the holiday weekend due to the stupid chit that's happening on the water.
