My existing insurance carrier has droped boat insurance. All the insurance companies (State Farm, Allstate, Progressive) I have called are quoting me either outragous numbers or don't handle boats with single engines over 350 HP. Please, help me with names and phone numbers of insurance who may be able to help.

Johnny,
I don't know about the other companies you mentioned, but State Farm is pulling your chain.
I currently have my 26' Scarab w/ 502 in it insured with State Farm. There is no hidden horsepower ratings by me. They know that it is rated at 415hp. My annual premium is $400.
We have an agreed replacement value of 40k on the policy.
I think your agent, or the agents you are talking to are not going to bat for you.
I'd be more than happy to send you a copy of my policy if it helps you in any way. Might make someone eat crow.

I finally found a good option to state farm, National Marine Underwrighters (800-262-8467). State farm would not wright my policy since I had 2 major accidents last year (neither one was found to be my fault but they still count agianst my record). I had a head on crash with my 2001 F-250 and 5 days later I was hit from behind while waiting for a light to change in a rented F-150. National Marine Underwrighters was the same price State Farm originaly quoted me but they have a rider policy that elinminates the pro rating on mechanical wear items such as drives and motors.

These insurance companies are a joke, however we must all have it. When I purchased the boat 272 with a 502, Allstate stated that they would not insure the boat. I was a little upset due to the fact that I have 4 cars 1 house, and umbrella, snowmobile and other policy's with them. I just stated to my agent that he relook at the situation. I have paid all premiums and have been fortunate enough to not have any claims. I have been with Allstate for 20 years, I stated that if they could not insure the boat I am sure other company's would, along with all of my other insurance needs. I received a call 2 hrs later and was quoted $420 per year. Pretty funny huh??? What a scam.

I just got a very attractive quote from National Marine Underwriters like Johnny Bravo did. Has anyone had any experience with these people? Do they respond quickly to claims? Do they pay them?
After the problems Cord has been going through, we don't want to be in the same boat (no real pun intended).

ANYONE IN FLORIDA HAVE A DECENT RATE FOR INSURANCE. MINE IS TWICE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE SAYING AT OVER A GRAND A YEAR. I HAVE HAD NO ACCIDENTS OR TICKETS SO ON. I SHOPPED AROUND ALOT AND THIS WAS THE BEST I FOUND. I JUST FIGURED IT COST MORE BECAUSE EVERY AGENT ASKED IF I WOULD EVER BE USING THE BOAT IN THE OCEAN. I HAVE AN 01 25 OUTLAW WITH A PRETTY MUCH STOCK 502. CURRENT INSURED VALUE IS 65K. IF YOU HAVE A GOOD RATE PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS, LARRY

I read an article in Powerboat about a year ago that talked about outrageous rates in Florida. They mentioned a few things like higher theft, hurricanes and salt water wear and tear contribute to higher rates. They said as much as triple what someone, like myself, in Ohio would pay! I'm sure there are plenty of Floridians around here that can help Jax out with a good company.
