Default Wanted: 454 Magnum Long Block

Just found out that I have a damaged piston PLUS need headwork done to my 454 magnum. At this point Ive just decided to replace the motor (long block). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to pickup a long block--looking for at least 400 hp.
Thanks guys!

I,ve got pistons and rods complete with the pins already installed if you decide to just freshen your motor.. I also have a set of heads 1 is ready to go the other one needs a new valve guide, retainer and keepers, if you just need 1 head this may help you out!! As far as getting the 400HP that would mean you need to do a cam swap, so rebuilding your block that you have might be the way to go!! I also have the timing chain and gears for that engine, we are talking about a Mark4 block right?

As far as the pistons I only have 7 because I did the same thing to my motor that you have done..

Thanks for the reply but I dont want to build an engine I just want a long block that I can install and get back on the water. I found a US Engine Mercruiser 454 Magnum rated at 425 hp for $3000 (including a 500 hour or 7 year warranty) which is probably the direction Im going to go but thought I would at least see if there were any other suggestions out there.

1 800 RUNS NEW

I've bought several engines from them over the years. Never a problem and great prices.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just checked out their website and their prices are $100-$200 more than US engines with only a 2 year warranty (compared to the 7 year warranty with US engine) and they dont list the HP rating for their remanufactured engines.
The more I think about it 425 HP for $3000 with a 500 hour warranty is a pretty good deal.
