How to tell difference between big shaft #4's and small shaft???

no sh$t, i know the big shaft has a bigger shaft 
but what are the dimensions????? Im going to look at a boat today with 4's and want to be able to look at them and know if he is bs'ing me..........

LOOK here. ( SMALL SHAFT ) 19 spline,,,u can see right behind the seal where its tappered down. On the big shaft it comes straight out all the way to the tread.
