Question Velocity 280 w/ shorty????

Thinking about switching my Velocity 28' to a shorty 1.36 ratio. i currently have a regular lower 1.50 ratio. i do have hydraulic steering but no trim tabs. will this make any difference for my boat???

what hp if its close to 500hp stay with the 1.50, about the shortie don't know on your boat but I picked up 8mph with a shortie 2'' and carb change went from 76 to 83.2 and ran out of prop so would have gotten to 84 to 85. 670hp 1.50 gear, good luck both boats have a pad on them yours is wider.

I have a 24 pitch prop and a 454 mag..... you think the 1.36 shorty is a bad idea?

I would post this question in the Velocity section and/or call Steve stepp at the factory. They will be able to answer your question quickly

Wouldn't a 1.36 cause you to drop to approx a 20 pitch prop. A buddy has a 280 with a warmed over 500hp and 1.50 Bravo running a 28P prop. Based on how his performs I see no reason you need to change your gear ratio or drive height.

If you can pick up the shortie cheap, just put your 1.50 lower gearset in that shortie. Problem solved.

Keep the 1.50 ratio.

Shorty??????? Check with other owners, but I doubt you will see much gain with 454mag.
