Default 500HP Carb - Cleaning Air Filter

I have stock 500hp carbs, and the air filters appear to be pretty dirty, and I am needing advice as to the best way to go about cleaning them? Also, there are two steel hoses connected to the air filter, what is the best way to remove them?

Take them off spray with some Simple Green and squirt them off with a hose.
