Default Mark 4 vs Gen 6 question

Are the mark 4 cams interchangeable with the gen 6? I have a line on a mark 4 cam that I would like to put in my gen 6 block, can this be done or is there some differences between the two blocks that will not allow this to happen?

Thanks

4's were still flat tappet. Not that that had a difference in the block, just saying.......

What cam are you looking at?

I think that the gen. 6 has a step cut on the front for a retainer plate. Also i think the bolt centers in the gear are diferent.

What I am looking for is a hydraulic roller cam for my 509 blower motor and I have a buddy who has one from his mark 4 block that I am thinking about using if I can.

If anyone has a good cam recommendation for my application I would like to hear it. Gen 6, 9:1 comp, stock gen 6 heads, BDS 871, CMI headers….Hydraulic roller preferred.

Thanks

A mark 4 cam will work in a gen 6 block,
you will have to use a mark 4 style timing set and a
cam button or something to control cam walk, plus a new IMCO timing cover.

I went with a custom gen 6 cam so I could use the cam retainer
that is stock on a gen 6 and a gen 6 style timing set
cheaper in the long run
