I don't know much about bajas so I figured I would ask... Figured this might be fun to slap a big stereo in and use for the rest of the summer.

Anything I should watch out for? Going to take a look at it tomorrow.

Stringers, floor, and transom. The old ones never had the drain holes sealed. Feel around and check for rot.

Thanks for the heads up JFM, what's the best way to feel for it? A little rubber mallet?

Yeah tap around but the drain holes in the stringers and even the transom you can put your finger and feel around. Good luck

Brass tack hammer, not a rubber mallet. It should have a solid sound, if its a dull, flat, thud your goose is cooked!

See this thread for late 80's Baja quality. Haven't had a chance to update it lately, been working too much at my real job. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/b...ld-thread.html

I had an all red 89' 226 Sport like this. It is a great boat but not a real wave crusher by any means. The boat had no stress cracks at all which I was suprised at but it did need a new floor. If you want more info. Magic Medicine knows how to get ahold of me.

I am thinking those speeds aint happening unless he is winding the motor to 7,000 RPM's either.

59-62 mph at best (454mag/365hp). probably worth the asking price if it runs and is clean
