Default Looking for info on Chevy "Southern Comfort" conversion

Any dealers out there, or anyone with knowledge of these conversion packages?????

As the title states, I am looking for some info on the conversion package done by Southern Comfort out of Pinson, AL. Specifically, appx. what the cost is to the dealer to have this upgrade done??? I have found a dealer with a new 2008 leftover 2500HD Duramax/Allison LTZ (MSRP $52,900) that has this conversion package. They are telling me that the conversion package price alone is $17,790!!!!

The package consists of the following:

-ProComp 6" suspension lift
-20" ProComp wheels w/ 35"ProComp tires
-a faux wood dash/door/steering wheel kit
-painted window visors
-panted wheel flares
-chrome nerf bars
-billet grille
-chrome exhaust tip

Most of these Southern Comfort packages have wild paint too that can hike up the price, this one does not. This truck has solid factory paint.

Now I did some simple math and even went on the high side and included labor costs associated and came no where close to $18K. Also, the stock wheels/tires are not included, so wonder how they feel they can charge extra for the ones that are on it.

I know the kit is worth something but I really don't know how to negotiate on it. The truck itself is now 2-model years old, so they surely want it gone.

Any info on these conversion packages would be awesome. Feel free to email me directily if you'd prefer. bowenct(at)charter(dot)net

Much thanks in advance.

If they have been sitting on it for 2+ years they should be ready to give it away. Low ball the hell out of them. Offer them $35K or something like that and go from there. After watching it sit for that long, tey should be willing toentertain ANY offer.

Thanks guys.

Plus thay have 8, yes EIGHT of them! One 3500 dually, one 1500, and six 2500s.......all 2008s and all with this Southern Comfort package. They are all different and all very nice.

The reason I like this truck is because the lift wheels/tires is something I would probably do to my truck anyway, but being that it was done by a conversion company that is authorized by GM, it still retains it's full factory warranty. That is huge.

I can negotiate based on the truck alone, but would really like to know what they have invested into this conversion to know where I need to be.

One other thing to add, I believe Southern Comfort has closed there doors over the past 4-6 months.

Yea, If it's the White one at East Haven dealer I tryed the same thing the Chrome lugs are all rusted and it had a Foot of Dirty snow on the hood from the road from the plow guy going by. You would think they would want to move it. But they don't care. Last time I was there they had about 18 of them sitting there.

just the lift, wheels, and tires cost $6k. Now add paint, flares, side bars, billett grille, custom seats, and interior trim it adds up. The bad news is I think southern comfort went out of business. I believe a company called 4 wheel parts is the only place left to have a lift installed and not void warranty. I have ben out of the business for a while, so don't quote me. 4 wheel parts is a nation wide company and will work with the dealer to build the truck you want. So if you find a stock truck that a dealer wants to deal on you can have it built the way you want it. " not the way somebody at a conversion co wanted. Speaking of warranty the one on the left over so co might be a little fuzzy bordering on hairy!!! Call doug baker at the 4 wheel in Dallas he is by far the most knowledgeable person on all the conversions. 972 538 8630.

the conversion pkg has about 10k in mark up not inluding the mark up that is in the truck itself.....you should be able to get about 12k to 15k off of the sticker price

I would say the package has about 5k of cost AT MOST. You might just find the wheels, they are made by some company. Find the name and I will see if they are part of SEMA.

I have a 2001 F350 Centurion conversion. I needed some info and parts to repair some damage and found out that Southern Comfort bought them out. Anyway I have the number someplace to contact their parts dept ect. I will try and find it ASAP and post it here. The person was very helpful, I needed some of the Centurion name emblems and he remembered seeing them somewhere when they aquired the co., he tracked them down and called me back to let me know. It would have been so easy to just blow me off for the few dollars made.

Please note that Southern Comfort Conversions id going through financial issues according to another website. That means parts are almost impossible to get.
