Default 496 mag ho's to 525's 30 Daytona who has made the swap?

weighing my options and trying to figure out what all needs to be re-rigged if I decide to sell my 496's and replace them with 525's.
What problems did you run into?
Anyone done this?

Thanks Shue,
Ill call em later next week when I get some free time during the day. I know when they build em new with 525's its a lil easier than a field swap, So Id also like to hear from some folks that have made the swap.

I have heard that it's fairly easy in terms of motor mounts and electrical connection, but I would be very interested in hearing the specifics as well. I have heard that the Ilmors are a lot harder due to the different motor mount locations and electrical connectors so it has to be a much simpler swap.

Would you mind posting up what you find when you get a chance?

You need to see which harness your boat has probably the 16 pin round. The 525 has can bus and uses a differnt harness. I had to rewire my whole boat when I took the 525 out and installed a Paul Pfaf 750. Your best bet is to install a pair of 500 efis. Its a direct bolt in and will be much more upgrade friendly in the future.

Im not opposed to the 500 efi's just alot more 525's for sale than 500's. I've also considered just adding forged internals to mine going with a small amount of boost, but Id really rather stick with stock power. so the 525 seemed to be the best bang for the buck so to speak.

Raylar upgrade kit could be another option for you.

Due to the overall cost. Not really. Itd be roughly $9-10k per side for the raylar setup and Id still have stock internals vs a 500 hp or 525 with good internals.
