Looking at a Venture Trailer or Load Rite for a 26 prowler. Anyone heard anything about venture? I know the price tag is a bit cheaper, is that because it is not good quality. Please give me any feedback. Thanks

Call Stuart Haynes at Haynes Outdoors and ask him exactly what he has. He has several new and used Load Rite trailers sitting out front of the dealership. They are moving the dealership and have a big sale going right now. Tell him Brian Tillett sent you.

My 1999 Sonic 26' Prowler was 7280 lbs. on the trailer loaded with fuel and all my gear. Don't let ANYONE sell you a trailer with less than two 3500 lbs axles for that boat, and I would go with more than that if I did it over again.

I picked one up sight unseen a couple weekends ago, drove to CT, plopped my father's 27' Wellcraft Coastal on it, and towed it back to VA with no problems..... It won't see a lot of mileage for us but is adequate.
I have a HI-TECH under my Cig that I am pretty happy with. I would definitely also consider them....

What year is the boat? Before vacuum bagging/infusion process hull is about 500lbs heavier then after. (2003ish timeframe)
You just don't want to skimp here. If you blow a tire, (on a two axle trailer) you don't want the other axle to bend a spindle because it suddenly takes 50% of the load instead of 25%. Accordingly, ascending and descending steep launch ramps will overtax the front axle (when the boat is on the trailer) as the rear axle is often in the air or lightly loaded at the crest.
All of the aforementioned factors all point to error on the side of overengineering.
100 gallons of fuel is 600 lbs.
20 gallons of water is 160 lbs.
Then coolers, beer, tools, anchors, lines, stereo, extra batteries, billet accessories; and all the other stuff we accumulate weekly & over time adds up much faster than you think.

Thanks for the input. I will be sure to have atleast 3500lbs rating per trailer. My boat is a 98, and I am just going by what the Sonic dealer told me this morning, I was thinking if anyone knew the correct information it would be them. I have factored in room and used your weight on the scales and I agree that a 3500lb per axle min is the way to go.

hi..
terry at ace trailers in gibsonton, fl built me a custom trailer for my 26 sutphen, delivered to ct, with 4 whl discs and torsion axles for 1000 less than a standard venture trailer (which i would have had to set up), with drums from diamond marine in east haven, ct...which is 2 miles from my house.
c
btw i beams are thicker, disc beats drum, custom fit, terry is wicked honest....he'll go the distance to match your boat to the trailer...imho

My boat had a Venture trailer under it when i bought it. I quickly switched to a MYCO. Venture trailers are basically the cheapest you can buy. They bolt together and the diameter of the metal is way smaller than most. If you look also, there are half as many crossmember compared to most trailers.. You get what you pay for.. Jeff

I just purchased a 5 Starr which is a division of Loadrite. The guy also sells and stocks Venture. He told me to stay away from the Venture and showed me the difference between the two. Go with the 5 Starr by Loadrite.
