Default Switch from 302 to 29 OL

It's been quite a while since I've visited OSO. I used to post regurlarly as 29Fever. I met a ton of great people on the board. In 2002 I had my first daughter and decided I needed a bigger boat. Moved from a 1998 Fountain to a 1999 302 and changed my username. I think I also lost all my history on the site. Anyway, I went through a divorce and sold the boat. I missed it so much. I have been happier than ever now that I have a new fiancee, but I was missing something....a BOAT! With this market I decided it was a great time to buy again. So I set out looking for another Baja. I decided on another 302 or 29OL wherever I could land the best deal first. On Saturday I pick up a new to me 1999 29OL. It's underpowered with 7.4s, but extremely clean with only 180 hours. And in this market I got it for almost $20K less than what I sold my 302 for just about 2 years ago.

Any real noticle difference I should be aware of between the 302 and 29? I know I'm looking forward to having a swim platform I can actually sit on!!

We'll be keeping it on the Ohio River in Cincinnati. Look forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new ones!

Welcome back to the world of boating!

What made you decide to go Baja over Fountain? Not that we object!

Space! Lots more of at at a better price.

I liked the 29' Fountain, but you can't even compare cockpit and cabin space. Always a trade off...add an engine and slow down by 10 MPH!

Welcome back to the boating world. I also own a 1999 29 Outlaw with 7.4's. Trust me you will love it. I push 70 mph in mine and I feel that is fast enough. It gets me to happy hour fast enough and that is good enough for me. If you ever come up interstate 77 and plan on going to the islands (Kelley's or Put in Bay) send me a note and perhaps I can buy a fellow Baja Owner a beer. Congrat's on your purchase.

Sounds great! I was hoping for 63 MPH. That's about what I saw out of my 302. Maybe 65 with no passengers, gas or beer. I'll report back after I pick it up this weekend.

My parents have a place on the north side of Lake St. Clair by New Baltimore. I'm hoping to get up there before the short summer ends. Make the run through the Detroit River and into Erie. Family house on Lake Norris in TN too. Get to run into November down there!
