Engine Shops Near Lake Saint Clair Michigan
Can anyone recommend some quality engine shops to take a 1988 454 magnum to for a rebuild?
Can anyone vouch for the following shops?
Performance Marine in Chesterfield Township
Advanced Motor Rebuilders in Warren
Dynamic Speed and Marine in Chesterfield
I want to take it to someone that I can trust, but I am fairly new to the area.

I have heard good things about Dynamic, never heard of the others. You might try posting over at www.lakestclair.net as well.
Tyler Crockett is in Ruby, MI, which is not too far. Sterling Performance is in Milford if you want to swap that 454 with something with a bit more juice; Ilmor is also local (out in Plymouth) if you want to grab a V-10 instead.
I've had good experiences with Lenny at Millennyum Marine, though I've not used him for anything as extensive as a rebuild.

Owned by Ed Michaels and Joe Soller. Worked with both at Sterling and Joe again at Ilmor. Top-notch work. They did the killer quad rotors in that trick orange Ocean Express if you are familiar with it on Lake St. Clair.

Is Sommers the same Sommers that is at Belle Maer? If so, I would advise getting *everything* in writing. They tried to screw me when I was but a wee boater who didn't know better. I'd never let them near my boat.
