This rubber (harmonica) 'seal' is cracked and when the drive is all the way up water is getting in.

I`m not sure what this line is for. Whats involved in replacing this? I`m pretty handy would like to learn to do it myself, I just fixed the a choke issue... any help is appreciated.

If your talking about that small bellows in the pic. It is for the shift cable.

bellows yes thats the word I was looking for.. yup thats my leaker.

You can get a replacement shift cable bellows from most mairne stores.

Lot of work to replace better to take to a pro.Also have the main bellows checked while you are at it.

you need to pull the shift cable out to replace the bellows. so you minus well replace the cable too while its out.

second that... while you've got it apart, you might as well check everything including ujoints and gimbal and change both bellows...

I got estimates from $300- $1600 geez.

Found someone that was reasonable will do both bellows and check the gimbal.

I had to pay something like $500 to have both replaced on an old Alpha drive about 10 years ago (no longer have boat).

Last year, had new trailer for the Fountain stolen and while discussing claim with insurance rep we talked about what they see as claims, he stated that the drive bellows and the shift bellows were the number one claim from sinking. He went on to state that it is the owners responsibility to periodically replace these bellows becasue they are considered maintenance items and that if the boat sank because of the bellows (which they WILL inspect afterwards) and if the owner can not prove it had been replaced in the last couple of years, that the sinking would NOT be covered.
