Default prop help for a 22 Scarab 350 mag.

Well, just purchased my first scarab and need some opionions on a new prop. I'm not sure what's on it right now, "except it's a p.o.s."... Does a 4 blade s.s. and about a 21 pitch sound about right????

borrow from friends etc... to see what works at least for a baseline, shouldn't need a 4 blade, a good 3 blade such as a Mirage Plus etc...

My buddy has a 1987 Scarab 1 which is a 22ft with a 350 mag in it and alpha 1. He is running a 21P Mirage plus which is turing the motor to about 4700rpms and is in the 54-55mph range with gps. The only thing I noticed was it takes it a little bit to get on plan but after that it handles and ride's great.

Try a revolution 4 21p and 23p. Should work ok. I would guess that the bravo might be a bit large. See if a Mirage plus will work. Usually the drive on a boat like yours, is placed somewhat deep. If so, the 4 blade will rob you of speed. Try a good 3 blade like the Mirage Plus, it's a great prop.

Default Prop help for 22 Scarab

Sounds like the Mirage Plus is the verdict... Want to be able to get out of the hole as quickly as possible, but would like a top end of 60'ish, "if I can have my cake and eat it too..."

Thanks guy's...

Deff go with a mirage plus, but good luck with top end speed of 60ish. Let us know what speed you do hit thought.

Thank's Erik, I'll keep you informed... I'm pretty sure that my 22 is close to a 60 top end now, though need to confirm with another boat or a good excuse to buy a GPS...

My excalibur is a 53-54mph boat with a hand held GPS. My buddys scarab 1 (1987 22ft 350 mag motor) will keep right up with mine in perfect condtions. His bottom is painted so if yours isnt painted then maybe 2-3mph. Anyway ever boat is diffrent so goodluck and oh yeah the small handheld gps are cheap now a days.
