Default Merc 525 and Factory class...

Has anyone heard if Factory class racing will switch to the new 525?

Could you imagine forcing all factory teams to buy new merc engines? That would cause a riot. Also, there has been discussion of how to slow these boats down a bit. So I HIGHLY doubt there is any truth to this rumor.

If merc does that, they need to grangfather all the 500efi's and allow the Mono throttle body to be used to make them very close. But then again if their sales are slack this past year, making every one switch to 525 would force a bunch of sales for them.

How about, new 525, 500efi w/new throttle body, and old 525sc in the same class. Now that would be a way to increase participation in the F1 series and Power boating over all.

Will not happen this year, but I agree SVL would be a better fit. If anything they need to slow down F1.

We tried to get the OK to run them in SBI F-2 this year and were flat out told "NO".

A rumour that I heard was that the SVL class will be using a race version of the 496HO , it will be putting out around 550HP .
As soon as they can get them to stay together.

This came from a source that is close to the R & D of these motors.
