I had a 1989 27 Fountain fever twin 420/454, a couple years after owning it they started calling them 29s, (included the swim platform). The boat ran a solid 82mph, handle rough water very good for it's size. The boat does sit low in the rear and if you come off plane really fast you will get water on the rear deck. Outside of that had no complaints with the boat owned it for 10 years.

I had a 1990 29' Fountain. The same boat as the 27' in 1989. I loved the boat but it was a little small for our rough lake and I wanted something with a deeper freeboard. Mine had twin 356hp 454's and it was a solid 70mph in the right water.

They all sit low at the stern up to the 38 footer. My buddy's 35 doesn't have more freeboard than my 25' boat.

I was told that the 89 27' had a different hull design from the later 29' boats had a padded botton not really sure what that means?

All Fountains have a pad bottom.

No I'm out of MI it came with 25 three blades Put 24 four blades Haven't been able to get much over 65 mph I think the motors are tired or they just needed a good tune up. Which I've done this winter Hopefully I can get closer to 70 mph
