I am rebuilding my 1995 502 MPI crank was trash will be going to a 540. Question can i put a hotter cam in or would i have have the ecm reprogramed?

It is always a good idea to get the ecu reprogrammed after major mods.

You'll need the ecm reprogrammed anyway if you're making it into to a 540ci. The 502mpi injection is only capable of making so much hp anyway.

Any one know anyone in the east Texas area that does that.

Since you are going to 540 CI, you will need a new cam. Call Bob Madera at marine kinetics. He is the best for marine cams.

Then call Mark at Precision marine in New Orleans and he will dial in the ecm to make the most power and have a motor that runs great.

Or just call Mark at Precision Marine and find out what cam he has used in the past and already has an ECM tune for.
