1999 Velocity 280 For Sale
#1
I've been kicking around the idea of selling our Velocity. The crew is not happy with me, but I'll tell them she may not sell, and we will buy another boat if she does go.
We've owned the boat for 2 years and many of you may know that VelocityRick, here on OSO, owned her before us.
The boat has all the goodies, Kevlar hull, twin ram full hydraulic steering, K-planes with indicators and more.
The Engine is a 1997 502MagMPI that I rebuilt in 2005 and has approximately 200hours since then. The Drive is a 2004 B1 that has been with the engine as a package since new therefore has the same 200hours.
The trailer is also a 1999 and I believe was original with the boat from the factory.
The price is 28K turnkey / as is. I will also sell without the engine and or the drive at a far discount.
Please no low ball offers, as I am in no way desperate to sell.
I also have available the higher metal framed wind screen with full camper top.

Don't know what will be next...
In a perfect world, I'd keep the Velocity and buy a little hot rod that we can water ski off of. An 18' Donzi would be at the top of that list.
My wife is bucking the idea of 2 boats though. I barely find enough time to use the 1, so she does make a good argument.
Yes, see you on the 18th...

I was told by someone intimate with Velocitys that she is worth between 28 and 32K.
Being what the market is, I'll list her at 28K. I have not placed any classified ads yet; just wrote this thread.

Its a 95 220 with a hp500 502 motor in it. I bought it from some guy in Indiana, can't remember the town but its somewhere south of Kokamo. He bought it from some guy that was running it on the mississippi who had it rigged with the HP, k-planes, and some other little things. I bought it with an unlabbed hyrdomotive 28p 4blade. It hops up on plane very quickly but hit the rev limiter at 78 mph. I've been trying different props but haven't found the perfect one yet. I get the typical list to port at low speeds in chop and the bow wanders when trimmed out at top speed, if I don't chase it it comes off the pad and chin walks badly. It seems like I don't have enough hull in the water to counter act the prop torque. if I run the tabs down I can trim it all the way out and not even need to chase it but the speed is down. I ran 83 with an unlabbed 30p b1 but the boat was just as unstable (the prop I was using when I spanked a 38 fastech in pretty good chop). I've tried a 27 mirage lh and the boat ran 77 and I could actually over trim the boat and it wouldn't get loose at all. So I am thoroughly confused. I would like to talk to bret at B blades but no way my wife would let me drop that kind of coin on a prop.

Pictures?
Ask DKerns what prop he ran; I think he had his boat near 90.
I'm thinking you may want to try a LH B1.
Rick, the guy that owned my boat, ran a LH with big power because the boat stayed on the pad better.
