I have a Borge Warner Tranny that is loosing oil I think out what looks like a breather? It has never been a lot just a little bit at a time. Anyone know what may be causing this?

check for water intrusion

if you had some spill only after first time you filled up tranny, maybe it was because there was just a little too much oil...

if it does it each time you take it out, water is maybe close to boiling point thus spitting oil mixed with water...

you can only see it by dropping the oil unless you have a lot of water in it... but if there is a lot of water, the oil is gonna be pink, quite simple to see !

if none of these, tranny is starting slipping, oil boiling and out from breather...

Well I tend to do some high speed runs each time out. Today I did two extended runs at WOT for about 4 min each. I think it has been doing this for a while. I just got off the phone with a friend and he said that lots of times you have to extend the breather up to a expansion tank. There is no evidence of water in the fluid.

I usually install a hose barb fitting in the tranny and run a hose about 3' long and tie it up on the back of the engine somewhere. You could also just make 2-3 loops with the hose and tie wrap it up.

bingo.I have seen several "puking" fluid when run hard .Each time run you are subject to losing some fluid .The right fix is to hookup a Puk tank above trans. I've used Jazz coolant recovery tanks with success.Tank only cost $80.00.Has 1/4" barb on bottom to hook line to and fitting on top for vent.When in an I.O. a Borg Warner does not use the two threaded mount point holes on either side of trans .bolt a short piece of angle aluminum to holes on stbd side of trans .Make it high enough for you to be able to mount tank to it above vent.Now if you go run the chit out of it and you lose a little fluid ,it will simply go in the bottom fitting of tank.Then when you ease back fluid will run back in to trans .Jazz tanks have threaded mounting nuts molded in to side of tank .These little tanks are plastic and available in several colors.I usually use Black.You can spend more on a super wiz bang tank if you feel the need ,But these little tanks work.
