Next week I will finally get my 502 rebuilt engine back, and I'm back in the water. I've removed my procharger and returned everything to stock form. I will try both a 26 and 24P Bravo 1 prop. Simple question: How should I break in the new engine, and for how many hours? I assume varying RPM's for a few minutes at a time, and about an hour of running at varying speeds is sufficient. Is that correct? Any other advice? Thanks.

Make sure not to idle it much, you need oil slinging to keep the wristpin lubed up good. Plus you want lots of oil flow up top until things wear in. Keep out of WOT for 5-10 hours, if you have to ease it on. Merc actually has a WOT proceedure for new engines to prop test. In a nut shell its 500rpm at a time.
