Why would you purposely put a hook in the hull?

On the pad at the very back and at the notch in my boat somebody added hooks to the hull. You can see it was added later because it doesn't quite match the rest of the hull. Why would you do that? The boat falls off the pad very easily, I'm wondering if this is part of the cause. Running a straight edge down the pad I've noticed I have quite a few defects but just on the pad, but the big hooks (quarter to half an inch) at the very stern of the boat were definitely added later.

Take the Hook Out and use Trim Tabs.
Some boats have hooks add so that you don't need tabs. Some boats have flaws in the mold.
Don't know about your Velocity; maybe call Steve at the factory.

might have to, the pad has a couple rockers in it that are pretty bad, its on because the rest of the hull seems really good from what I could check on the trailer.
