Default Tax/receipt question

Is a jpeg or a scan of a receipt acceptable as long as it is entirely legible? I cant stand having paper around.

Our company (a publicly traded utility) allows it so I assume it is legal.

Even a ledger (ie: cash reciept book) of the expediture is legal
in tax court, without reciept back up. To the last of my knowledge.

I have been thinking of getting a reciept scanner. I have a regular flatbed scanner but it is a pain. They make specific reciept scanners that will load all reciepts into a particular file. You can sort them into different catagories, etc. They don't cost very much and seem like a good idea. I'm with you on the paper. I have an entire dead forest in my file cabinet.
